WW2 Ste Mere Eglise Road Sign
WW2 Ste Mere Eglise Road Sign.
These repro road signs are high-quality replicas of the original WW2 vintage signs. Made of high-grade 18 gauge steel and measuring approximately 83 x 25 cm, these are impressive pieces of WW2 memorabilia.
These particular signs are from the French town of Ste Mere Eglise, the scene of an iconic battle of WW2. In the early hours of 6 June 1944 as part of the D-Day landings, U.S. Airborne troops parachuted into Normandy with the aim of securing positions for the sea-borne main force. The small town of Ste Mere Eglise occupied an important position on the route to the landing beaches and therefore had to be secured. After heavy fighting, the American troops finally succeeded in taking the town and won a significant victory.
These signs are a symbol of history and would make a great gift for any WW2 history enthusiast, and an excellent addition to a vintage display.
Please note: These signs have sharp edges and should be handled with caution.
