Named after the organisation's founder, Fritz Todt, the Organisation Todt was responsible for military and civil engineering projects throughout the 3rd Reich. With its roots in the prewar expansion of the Autobahn, the organisation was quick to turn to military projects as Germany prepared for war and continued to operate until the end of WW2. These service books were a key part of daily life for workers in the Organisation Todt, detailing nearly every aspect of their life in their role as both identification and a record of employment, medical history and personal details.
