Description
The 1st Infantry Division, nicknamed 'The Salvation Army', is one of the British Army’s oldest divisions, with a history spanning from the Peninsular War until the modern day. In World War 2, the division took part in the Battle of France, was evacuated at Dunkirk in 1940, and later fought in the Tunisian and Italian campaigns, ultimately ending the war in the Middle East.
