The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was instituted on 1 September 1939 as a high-level award for battlefield leadership and valour. The grade featuring Oak Leaves and Swords was introduced in September 1941. Due to the limited number awarded, original examples are rare, making this three-piece die-struck construction a great option for collectors and re-enactors.
This reproduction features a matte black painted magnetic iron centrepiece held within a nickel silver frame, finished with a silver-toned antique coating. It includes the Oak Leaves and Swords clasp for attachment to the suspension loop. The cross is supplied with a quality 12-inch Knights Cross neck ribbon in the traditional black, white, and red colours. Add elastic or cotton ties to the ribbon to allow the medal to be worn around the neck
To assist with historical identification, the piece incorporates an 800 silver content stamp and an L/50 maker mark on the reverse side. The item approximately measures 48mm across. This piece allows collectors and re-enactors to complete their impressions with an accurate representation of this specific grade.
