Originally established in 1939, the Grossdeutschland Division was one of the most decorated and respected units in the German Army during World War Two. Initially formed as a motorised infantry regiment, it participated in numerous significant campaigns, including the invasions of France and the Soviet Union. By 1942, it had been restructured into a motorised division, before later transitioning to a Panzergrenadier division.
