Description
The M44 Field Cap, introduced in World War 2, was a standardised headgear worn by German military personnel, including enlisted men and non-commissioned officers. Its design was influenced by the earlier Bergmütze used by mountain troops, which featured fold-down ear flaps to protect the wearer’s ears in cold conditions. The cap’s practical and comfortable design led to its widespread adoption across various military units.
Our version of this fantastic hat is crafted with meticulous attention to historical detail. Made in Germany by the esteemed Erel company – the same Erel that produced the hats during World War Two – these caps are made from a combination of a woollen outer layer and a cotton inner lining. They feature a pair of fold-down ear flaps, secured by a large, central pebbled silver button, and also have a pair of air vents designed to keep your head cool when in use.
In short, this cap is exactly what you need if you’re looking to build a period-accurate reenactment setup. It’s comfortable, practical and downright cool! Get one today!
Please Note: The visor on these caps is made from a cloth-covered pasteboard/heavy cardboard, as per the originals. They are therefore NOT machine washable.
