Description
An excellent reproduction of the hard-wearing British Leather Jerkin used during the Second World War. Made with soft leather, with four fastening buttons and thick wool inside. Finding the heavy animal skins and pelts that were experimented with during the winter of 1915 unsuitable for the modern battlefield, in 1916 British troops were instead issued with the leather jerkin.
The design is practically unchanged since the Great War.
Designed to protect against the cold and elements, without inhibiting freedom of movement, the jerkin proved popular with officers and the ranks alike.
