The cross straps were a vital part of any soldiers kit, attaching to the webbing belt to support the weight of all the kit and attaching more kit to the straps themselves.
These are original items, and so variation is to be expected. This can include manufacturers marks or names and some have been "blanco'd" to a green or grey.
