General Sir Samuel Browne designed this system in 1858 after losing his left arm in India. Unable to steady his scabbard while drawing his sword, he added a diagonal shoulder strap to hold it in place. The British Army standardised this layout during the Second Boer War, making it standard for officers through both World Wars up to the present day.

This set is made from thick, light brown leather with solid brass fittings. The main waist belt measures 57mm wide and features the classic double-prong buckle. Sizing is controlled by twin rows of holes. It includes a 33mm wide cross strap, adjustable loops, and a brass sword hook on the left side.
