WW1 German Blue Max Medal Box
A smart presentation box for Prussian Pour le Mérite or "Blue Max" awards, complete with gold image of the award on the lid.
The 'Pour Le Mérite', or Blue Max as it became known during WW1 was one of the highest Prussian awards of merit awarded between 1813 and 1918. The addition of the oakleaves indicated extraordinary achievement in battle. Established in 1740 by King Frederick II of Prussia, the Pour le Mérite was awarded as both a military and civil honour.
Complete with gold image on the lid, smart dark blue textured exterior, tidy closure button, blue satin and velvet interior.
The box measures approximately 16.2 x 8.6 x 2.9 cm.
