Description
Established during the height of the Cold War and based out of Fort Sherman in Panama, the Jungle Operations Training Centre was created to develop tactical jungle warfare expertise among US and allied forces. Training included survival skills, navigation, riverine operations and small unit tactics in tropical environments; preparing soldiers for missions in Southeast Asia, Latin America and beyond.
This distinctive embroidered insignia measures approximately 7.5cm by 7.5cm and features a white three-mast sailing ship with a blue cross on its sail. Set against a bold blue background, the top rocker reads “Jungle Expert” in crisp white lettering. The imagery symbolises resilience and the ability to adapt to unfamiliar and hostile terrain, echoing the ethos of the training centre.
