Established in 1944, the US 9th Army saw significant action in France and Germany during World War Two. After its deactivation in 1945, the Ninth Army was reactivated in 2012 to oversee key military units, including the 1st Infantry Division, 82nd Civil Affairs Battalion and United States Africa Headquarters. This patch, made of embroidered cotton, is a fantastic original worn by members of the regiment.

Following its deactivation in 1945, the Ninth Army was reactivated in 2012 to oversee critical military operations globally, including its leading role in the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).
This patch is uniquely shaped as a nonagon, with nine sides that represent the unit’s numerical designation. Its red background is contrasted by a bold white letter ‘A’ in the centre.
