Description
The 86th Infantry Division, known as the “Blackhawk Division”, was activated in 1917 and served in World War I. During World War Two, the division landed in France in March 1945, advanced into Germany and was recognised as a liberating unit for its role in rescuing the civilian population at the Attendorn forced labour camp. Post-war, it was reactivated in 2010 as the 86th Training Division, based at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.
The division’s patch features a bold red background with a black hawk at its centre. The initials ‘BH’ proudly represent the Blackhawk nickname. Measuring just 5.5cm x 6.5cm, this finely embroidered patch, with its unique raw edge finish, captures the heart and character of an enduring military unit.
