British Tropical Pith Helmet
Worn by British troops during the 19th Century Anglo-Zulu War and other conflicts of the era, the British Tropical Pith Helmet offered protection from the sun and light rainfall. The Pith originated in Vietnam, and this is where these fantastic repros are made. The body of these British Army Tropical Pith Helmets is made from a khaki-coloured pith - a lightweight cloth - with vent holes at the top to help keep your head cool. There's a chinstrap for a comfortable fit, as well as an adjustable headband to fit up to 60cm head size.

And I pleased by this purchase. Once I had receeved the shipment and took it out of the box, I saw it was just like I remembered seeing in the movies and historical photograps. I am not, nor have I ever been a person of brittish heritage, nor partaken in colonianism (As far as I know).
But as soon as I put it on I felt a stirring yourning, for tea. Followed by a strong desire to go out and touch grass, start to smoke a pipe and start a daring expedition!
I can only conclude that this is a real Pith helmet, and look foreward to bringing AND wearing it under the relentless sun on one of my hiking trips.
