1914 Iron Cross 1st Class Pinback
In stock
Reproduction 1914 Iron Cross.
The Iron Cross was a military award of the Kingdom of Prussia, the German Empire and Nazi Germany.
Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm II reauthorised the Iron Cross in August 1914 with the outbreak of the First World War. The Iron Cross was awarded for bravery in battle regardless of rank.
One had to possess the 2nd Class already in order to receive the 1st Class (though in some cases both could be awarded simultaneously).
Adolf Hitler was awarded the 2nd and 1st Class Iron Cross during WW1 and most photographs of him show it worn on his left breast.
The cross features an imperial crown at the top, the letter 'W' for Wilhelm and '1914' at the bottom.
This version of the prestigious decoration comes with a flat pin back for fitting.
