First adopted in 1934 and standardised in 1937, the M1937 wool shirt replaced the outdated pullover designs of the World War I era. This button-front shirt was widely issued to US Army and Army Air Forces personnel. Officers wore private-purchase versions with shoulder epaulettes, allowing them to display collar rank insignia in the field.
As per WW2 originals, this shirt is made from a heavy 80% wool blend fabric in the correct Olive Drab Shade 33 (OD 33), commonly known as 'mustard' wool. The shirt features seven front buttons, two patch pockets with button down flaps, and buttoned cuffs.
Designed with a tapered cut, this shirt offers a sharp military silhouette suitable for formal parade dress or field duties. Reenactors will appreciate the wool's natural insulating properties and breathability in cold conditions. It layers under M1941 jackets or can be worn alone as part of an early-to-mid war impression.
