During World War Two, the US Army changed the suspension system in the M1 helmet liner. In late 1942, they moved from rayon to olive drab cotton webbing. To hold this new Herringbone Twill (HBT) suspension in place, the military introduced these triangular A-washers, replacing the earlier rectangular pattern.
These replica washers are made from steel and feature a textured, non-reflective finish. This matches the look of mid-war US issue gear. Each washer is 20 mm wide at the bottom base and 30mm high, with a central hole designed to take standard 9/64-inch semi-tubular rivets.
Whether you are repairing a single loose strap or doing a full liner restoration, these parts are essential. A complete helmet rebuilding project needs exactly nine A-washers to secure the basket and nape webbing. They keep your suspension tight and stable, ensuring your helmet sits comfortably on your head.
