WW2 German War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords
In stock
This is a very good reproduction of the World War Two War Merit Cross 2nd class with swords, including 6 inches of the correct ribbon.
This award was instituted in 1939 at the same time as the other War Merit Crosses and was intended to replace the earlier non-combatant Iron cross and ribbon. Like the other War Merit crosses it could be awarded either with or without swords. This version with the swords would have been presented to military personnel acts of courage and bravery but not directly in the face of the enemy.
It would have been worn as part of a ribbon group on formal occasions, or as just the ribbon through the second button hole on active duty.
Image shows front and rear aspects of the medal.
