Description
These hats are true to the original, with a higher wool content than other reproductions. The M43 Cap comes Panzer Black and has a rough exterior similar to the originals. When sitting on your head, however, it is soft, comfortable and feels lightweight. The two buttons above the visor are textured to make it easier to unbutton and they release the flaps that turn the hat into a balaclava-like garment.
The M43 Field Cap was based upon the Bergmutze Ski Caps of Gebirgsjager and became one of the most widely used pieces of headwear of WW2. They had a slightly longer visor than the Bergmutze but did not have the leather sweatband of earlier hats, due to the necessary to economise manufacture.
This widely used piece of headwear is a must-have for anyone looking to complete their portrayal.
Please Note: The visor on these caps is made from a cloth-covered pasteboard/heavy cardboard, as per the originals. They are therefore NOT machine washable.

The term M43 was never designated by the Wehrmacht but is given to the different versions of the 1936 Model uniform. The M43 uniform was generally a simplified and tweaked version of the original uniform that used less material or was cheaper to manufacture. The M43 tunic, for example, omitted the suspension system and removed unnecessary cuts in the pockets. Due to the M43 model being used in the late war, material was often recycled or of lower quality.
