Description
Originally introduced in 1936, the German Army EM Belt Buckle became a staple of the Wehrmacht uniform, seen across various branches of the military, including the renowned Afrika Korps. The buckle’s design differed depending on branch and unit, with the one used by the troops who fought in North Africa being particularly distinctive.
The buckle features a domed motif, with the Wehrmacht eagle clutching a swastika at its centre, flanked by oak leaves and framed with a twisted rope border. Above the eagle, the inscription ‘Gott Mit Uns’ adds a poignant touch.
As the war progressed, the design of the buckle evolved. Initially, it featured a pebbled finish around the emblem, but by the later years of the war, a smoother finish became more common – although some pebbled versions were still produced until the war’s end. The leather tab that originally attached the buckle to the belt was gradually phased out, with twin prongs and a catch proving far more popular.
Perfect for anyone wanting to add a finishing touch to their WW2 uniform or for those simply wanting to update their wardrobe with some retro flair.
