The boxes were originally designed to fit into the larger portions of mess tins, with the 2 ration boxes being issued if an operation was thought to be longer than one day.
During WW2, in each box, every soldier would have received -
- 10 x Biscuits
- 2 x Oatmeal blocks
- Tea, Sugar, and Milk blocks
- 2 x Raisin Chocolate slabs
- 1 x Chocolate slab
- Boiled Sweets
- 2 x packets of Chewing Gum
- Meat Extract Cubes
- 1 x Salt packet
- 4 x Sugar tablets
- 4 x Latrine Paper pieces
Please note that the above listed items DO NOT come with this box.
Each box measures 15cm x 12.5cm x 6.5cm.
