Quality reproduction vaulted 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class.

Description

This is a fine quality example of one of the most famous of all German awards- the 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class.

The award features the W at the centre, which was added in the late 1800s for Wilhelm I and was kept for the 1914 issue under Wilhelm II. Below this is the date 1914 with the crown at the top of the medal. The award has a pin back for pinning to clothing.

This particular version of the award features a rare vaulted design, as can be seen in the pictures. This design was non-standard and such awards were private purchase items, sometimes preferred over Iron Crosses featuring the traditional design by recipients.

I love the design and quality, but the only thing I didn't like was that after the sixth month of purchase, part of the black color on the upper crown started to fade. That's all, because otherwise it's excellent for my recreation of an SS Allemeine 1934 uniform.
