During the mid-1960s, the US military shifted from bright, full-colour insignia to low-visibility alternatives. Colourful patches made soldiers easy targets for snipers in combat zones. The subdued 2nd Infantry Division patch was introduced to keep soldiers hidden, using olive drab and black tones to blend with tactical uniforms.

While many units deployed to Southeast Asia, the famed Indianhead division returned to South Korea in July 1965. They defended the tense Korean Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) during the DMZ War of 1966 to 1969. This patch represents the soldiers who served on the frontline of that forgotten Cold War conflict.

This reproduction features high-density polyester embroidery on a robust cotton twill backing. The design depicts the iconic five-pointed star and Native American chief's profile. An overlocked merrowed border protects the edges, which became the standard military finish from 1968 to prevent combat gear from fraying.
