This is the subdued US 101st Airborne patch. It is designed for historical recreation uniforms from the Vietnam era.

In June 1966, the United States military authorised subdued insignia to replace bright full-colour patches on combat uniforms. The 101st Airborne Division, famous as the Screaming Eagles, wore these during major Vietnam campaigns. This represents their deployment in tactical zones like the A Shau Valley.
This reproduction features a merrowed edge stitch which was introduced in 1968 to prevent cloth fraying in harsh environments. The patch set is made from high-thread-count olive drab polyester thread on a dark black cotton base. Sewing this on is simple, thanks to the flat backing and clean borders.
