WW2 German Reproduction Straight Shovel Cover with Open Back in Brown.
Shovel cover for the Kleines Schanzzeug, short shovel. Whilst the German military have made use of similar shovel since the 1880's, the Klappspaten, or folding shovel, was introduced in 1938. The folding design meant that the handle would point away from the body when carried, as the shovel does not fold a full 180 degrees.
We believe that these carriers are made from ersatzleder, synthetic leather, as the originals were. The cover measures approximately 20.5 x 18 cm. Please see our other listings for this item in black.
