SS Veterinary Sleeve Diamond Trade/Award Arm Badge.
Worn by Veterinarians of SS units. Veterinarians were responsible for the treatment and care of animals within military formations. Some 2.7 million horses and mules were used by the German military during WW2.
The snake is representative of the Rod of Asclepius, an ancient greek symbol of health and wellbeing.
