In 1942 Himmler set up the Reichsschule für SS Helferinnen (Reich School for SS Helpers) to train women in Signals and Communications roles so as to free up men for combat roles. This cuff title would have been worn by female students at the Reichscchule, or their male instructors.
Worn 6 inches above the cuff, a cuff title is a form of insignia placed on the sleeve of German military and paramilitary uniforms. Cuff titles are generally associated with units of the Waffen-SS but were widely used by other branches of the German military, including paramilitary and civilian organizations.
