SS Portepee Uscha-Schar Sword Knot/Portepee.
Selected members of the SS-Verfügungstruppe, SS-Totenkopfverbände and graduates from the SS-Junkerschulen were awarded the officer’s Degen, a straight sword worn as part on the dress uniform. These portepees were worn on the sword, and are one of the variants introduced in 1936 along with four distinctive swords for the SS, Police and Fire Police Officer’s, Officer Candidates, Senior NCO’s and enlisted personnel.
These are the SS Officer and Senior NCO variant which are silver coloured with black detailing. They feature embroidered SS runes on the stem, and vertical black stripes on the outer edges of the strap.
