SS Farriers Sleeve Diamond
SS Farriers Sleeve Diamond Trade Badge.
the wearing of trade badges was an old tradition that had come from the German Army and was adopted by the Waffen-SS to distinguish those who had successfully completed training for their chosen trade.
The Waffen-SS first wore the circular army insignia, but developed their own diamond insignia. Originally the sleeve diamonds worn by the SS were done in aluminum threads for all personnel for wear on the black service uniform but as the field grey uniform was adopted the insignia was then produced in grey thread instead.
There was also an Officers class trade patch produced which continued the use of the silver bullion thread and twisted wire piping but this was only to be worn on walking out uniform.
