Friekorps Silesian Eagle 1st Class
A reproduction Weimar Republic Silesian Eagle 1st Class.
First awarded on the 19th June 1919, the Silesian Eagle was awarded to members of the Freikorps Oberland who fought in the Silesian Uprising, in what is now modern day Poland. The 1st Class category was awarded for six months service. The Silesian Eagle was one of the few Freikorps medals that were allowed to be worn on military uniforms during the Third Reich.
The medal itself features a large, black Reichsadler, a symbol of Germany since the Holy Roman Empire. Adorned along the tail of the eagle are the words “Für Schlesien”, meaning “For Silesia”. Along the top is half crescent with a cross.
A reproduction Weimar Republic Silesian Eagle 1st Class.
