Once adjusted to your head, these will sit comfortably and make wearing the helmet an enjoyable experience. The liners themselves are made from hard plastic and slip right into the M1 helmet without the need for extra fittings.
As you may see in old photos, many US soldiers did not use the chin straps on the liner and preferred to have them over the lip of the helmet. Especially in the post-war, liners came in different colours to represent rank and provide a quick ID. Liners were worn alone in training as they were lightweight, waterproof, sun-protective and uniformed.
