Excellent Reproduction Panzer Pioneer Armoured Engineer Collar Tabs.
Panzer Pioneers specialised in engineering tasks, with infantry assaults in mind. Their role was varied, often with different units specialising in one area but being competent in many, including demolition, mine clearing, bridge building or flamethrowers.
Pioneers were often specifically tasked with capturing or destroying fortified positions. For example, Pioneers were tasked with capturing the last Soviet fortified positions on the western bank of the Volga during the final German offensive in Stalingrad in November, 1942. Due to their deployment to strategically important assault locations, the casualty rates amongst Pioneers were often higher than in other units.
The black and silver piping indicates the wearer is part of a Pioneer Battalion, within a Panzer division. These Panzer Pioneer Collar Tabs also feature an authentic, jawless Panzer totenkopf, on a Panzer black background.
