After the Second World War, the Yugoslavian army requested equipment as part of the MDAP (Mutual Defence Assistance Program.) They were re-armed with surplus gear from both the US and German Militaries. This included German Helmets and US M1943 shovels. In 1959, Yugoslavia created leather carriers for folding shovels, based on the old German-style - these are those said carriers.
