Original British RAF Braking Parachute
Grab a little slice of aviation history with these genuine surplus aircraft braking or "drogue" parachutes, as used to assist in slowing an aircraft during landing. Consisting of several rings of ribbon-like parachute material instead of a single continuous canopy as usually seen on personal parachutes, these braking chutes are perfect to hang from a ceiling or outdoors for an instant aviation vibe.
As these are retired surplus parachutes, they have been cut to ensure there is no way they can be used by accident. Inside the rectangular bag, closed with a hook and loop and featuring the manufacturer stamps, the full lengths of webbing to hold the chute to the airframe are still coiled up. Further along, the long triangular bag contains the parachute proper, again featuring manufacture labels and an entire approx. 3m diameter parachute. Full of quality materials, detailing and character, these are an excellent starting point for sewing projects.
Please Note: These parachutes are non-functioning and should not be used for any load-bearing purposes.
