Marine-Kustenpolizei Police Cuff Title (coastal protection police).
These Marine-Küstenpolizei (MKP) cuff titles are embroidered in golden yellow thread on a blue wool backing.
The MKP was formed in 1940 as a result of the occupation of countries with extensive coastlines such as France and Norway, which necessitated the introduction of a naval equivalent of the military police. The MKP’s duties included policing the waterways, harbours and coastal regions of the occupied countries, as well as controlling the order and discipline of personnel onboard ships whilst in port. The MKP was made up of drafts from the Wasserschutzpolize (Water Protection Police) and initially members wore their original police uniforms, often with the addition of the Kriegsmarine breast eagle. Eventually a full naval uniform issue was adopted which included these “cuff titles to be worn on the left arm.
