The term M43 was never designated by the Wehrmacht but are names given to the different version of the 1936 Model uniform. The M43 uniform was generally a simplified and tweaked version of the original uniform that used less material or were cheaper to manufacture. The M43 tunic for example, omitted the suspension system and removed unnecessary cuts in the pockets. Due to the M43 model being used in late war, material was often recycled or of lower quality.
