An excellent reproduction WW2 Kriegsmarine Clerical NCO Trade Badge.
For NCO ranks of Maat and Obermaat, this larger badge replaced both the smaller rating badge and the rank chevrons found on lower ranks. Chevrons on the larger, oval NCO rating badge differentiated between Maat and Obermaat NCO’s. The wearer would be addressed by both their rate and rank, in this case Schreibermaat.
The white backing on this badge indicates that this badge was to be worn with the Kriegsmarine Tropical and Summer uniform, as regulations dictated that the backing colour on insignia must match that of the uniform worn. Please see our other listings for this badge in Kriegsmarine blue.
