Japanese Army Type 97 Grenade
Introduced in 1937, the Type 97 grenade took its design from its predecessor, the Type 91 grenade. The design of the Type 97 proved to be more effective and provided a 4-5 second delay upon detonation, as opposed to the longer 7-8 second delay of the Type 91.
The grenade has a bevelled, pineapple grip pattern, and a pull-pin safety feature. Throughout WW2, it was issued as standard to Japanese troops. It was also issued during the second Sino-Japanese war.
This replica of the Type 97 is made from resin with a metal pull-pin, and a rope cord. The grenade measures approximately 10cm high with a circumference of 15cm.
