High quality reproduction cuff title as worn by German Luftwaffe officers during WW2.
Jagdgeschwader 2 (JG 2) "Richthofen" was a fighter unit of the Luftwaffe. Named for the lengendary Red Baron, Manfred Von Richthofen. It flew the Bf 109 extensively in the Battle of Britain and then in the aerial defence of occupied France. It converted to the Fw 190 in 1942, using this aircraft throughout the Normandy landings and the defence of Germany itself.
The inscription reads Jagdgeschwader Frhr. v. Richthofen Nr. 1 1917/18 in silver aluminium bullion thread on a blue backing with edging,
The cuff title measures approximately 5 x 52 cm.
