Description
No M42 German Soldier is complete without an excellent reproduction of the helmet (Stahlhelm.) Benefiting from an accurate standard grey, these are as close to the originals as you can imagine! The pot is made from a 1.6mm tough steel and comes with a chin strap, leather drawstring and quality leather liner – soft on your head. They also have stamped air vents and the iconic flared rim that are iconic to the M40 helmet.
In the war, subtle changes were made to the helmet to reduce material and labour costs, these included the flared rim and air vents. “ET-66” (example) is marked on the interior denoting Eisenwerke Thale, the firm responsible for the original design and manufacture. The number represents the shell size.
Unlike other reproductions, you can expect an already attached chin strap, the correct thickness and the correct shade of standard grey. These are quality helmets, the best repro on the market.

The Term M42 was never designated by the Wehrmacht but is given to the different versions of the 1936 Model uniform. The M42 was generally simplified and tweaked to make product cost lower or use less material. For example, the pleated pockets were omitted from the M42 tunic. One exception is the M42 trousers which went through a complete overhaul. The M42 uniform was worn across all areas of the Wehrmacht and had slight differences depending on the division.
