WW2 Reproduction German cover for folding shovels. This is the early design, Type I.
Introduced in 1938 the Klappspaten, (folding shovel) was the precursor to modern miliitary folding shovels. The US copied the design with the 1943 entrenching tool.
There are two types of covers made for the Klappspaten, this is the first type with a cover over the top.
Made from black leather with quality white stitching. Closed back with lid.
The shovel cover measures approximately 24 x 19.5 cm.
