Quality reproduction full leather A-Frame as used by the German Armed Forces.

The A-frame was introduced in 1939 at the same time as the combat Y-straps and was used to carry a soldiers combat kit such as the zelt quarter, mess tin and assault pack which would hold a solders rifle cleaning kit, spare socks and combat rations. There is also a square ring to the top and to either side to secure a rolled up blanket or greatcoat to the frame although this wasn't used all to often.

There are many original photos of soldiers in combat who have used the A-frame to secure their gas mask canister with the zelt rolled around it, Many soldiers would throw away the mask in favour of using the canister to hold more ammunition or rations.

The two D rings to the top secure the frame to the Y-straps and the bottom D rings attach to the two spare support straps on the front of the Y-straps securing them both together and to stop the pack moving around too much.
