WW2 style ‘Galizien’ cufftitle.
These cuff titles denote the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS. The Galician unit was granted divisional status in 1943 consisting of volunteers with a Ukrainian ethnic background from the area of Galicia. They division served in Russia, Slovakia, and Austria and finally surrendered to the British in May 1945.
Though there is doubt as to whether there was an officially authorised cuff title for the Galizien division there are believed to have been field made or one off versions. These black cuff titles are embroidered with 'Galizien' in grey thread. They feature a thin silver coloured border close to the upper and lower edges of the band.
