Reproduction Galician volunteer shield.
Worn by members of the Waffen-SS 1st Galician Division. Formed from volunteers in the region of Galicia, composing laregly of Ukrainians with some Czechs and Slovaks. It fought on the Eastern front before being mostly destroyed in August 1944, it was later reformed into the 1st Division of the Ukrainian National Army which surrendered to the Western Allies in 1945.
