Established in 1830 by King Wilhelm I of Württemberg, the Order of Friedrich (Friedrichs-Orden) was created to honour distinguished service and unwavering loyalty to the crown. This specific version – the Knight’s Cross with Swords – was awarded to military officers who demonstrated gallantry and merit in the field. Named after King Friedrich I, this decoration stood as a prestigious mark of recognition throughout the German Empire.
