Quality reproduction armband of the WW2 German Feldgendarmerie (military police), made from cotton.
Before the outbreak of WW2 Germany had no full-time permanent MP units, instead assigning personnel from the civilian police force. Upon mobilisation these policemen became the first of the permanent Heer Feldgendarmie units. At first they wore their civilian police uniforms and were identified through the addition of these green armbands with ‘Feld-gendarmerie’ embroidered in yellow gothic text, which were worn on the left sleeve.
These were later replaced by the standard issue army uniform with the addition of orange Waffenfarbe which included a sleeve eagle, collar tabs, shoulder boards, visor cap piping, as well as a brown and grey cuff title.
