The medal itself was earned by men on Germany's Russian Front in the winter months of 1941/42, and gained the nickname 'The Frozen Meat Order'. The Ribbon correctly measures 30mm across, and comes in 6 inch segments.

The Eastern Front Medal Ribbon (30mm Wide) is made to accompany the Eastern Front Medal. The medal itself was earned by men on Germany's Russian Front in the winter months of 1941/42, and gained the nickname 'The Frozen Meat Order'. The Ribbon correctly measures 30mm across, and comes in 6 inch segments.
The ribbon was worn in one of two ways:
- From the second button of the tunic.
- When in formal dress, the entire cross was worn mounted alone or as part of a medal bar.
The Eastern Front was given to personnel for exceptional bravery and/or leadership in the face of the enemy on the Eastern Front during the Winter months of 1941/42.
