Description
Our British 40 Pattern Austerity Tunic is an accurate reproduction of the original and a must-have for anyone looking for a precise portrayal of a WW2 British soldier. The rough, woollen texture provides that authentic feeling and the plastic buttons are accurate to the original tunic.
Benefitting from having the two front button-down chest pockets, the tunic has ample space for pocket litter, a bible or a picture of a special someone from back home. The two-button adjustable cuffs will allow you to change the wrist diameter, ensuring you can stay comfortable for an extended period during re-enactments. Button-down epaulettes sit comfortably on the shoulders much like the originals. The battle-dress tunic also benefits from 2 buttonholes on the reverse waistband to attach to the 40-pattern trousers.
These tunics were economised from the 37 pattern to save materials for the war effort, and they became an iconic part of the British Soldiers' uniform. The battledress tunic was introduced in 1939 but this version (Pattern 40) was modified in 1940. It is also known as the Austerity Tunic.
A must-have for anyone looking for a precise portrayal of a WW2 British soldier.
