The ‘Militär-Verdienstorden’ was Bavaria’s main decoration rewarding bravery and military merit, and was bestowed on officers and higher-ranking officials. This is the breast star version of the 1st class award, with swords.

This example of the 1st Class award is die struck and finished in enamel and gold plate, backed with a breast star.
