During the early stages of the Second World War, the US military needed to rapidly increase production of field gear. The M1910 canteen cover remained the standard issue design, but between 1940 and early 1942, manufacturers used a specific central rear seam method. This was later simplified to a side seam to speed up factory output.

We made this reproduction with tough, khaki-coloured cotton canvas in the early-war Olive Drab No. 3 shade. Inside, you get a light grey wool liner to insulate your water. It closes with two black metal Lift-the-Dot fasteners, has a bold U.S. logo on the front, and uses a standard wire hanger hook on the back.

It is sized to fit your standard one-quart canteen and nesting cup. You can wet the wool lining in summer so evaporation cools your drink, or keep it dry in winter to stop freezing. Care Instructions
